Consultation FAQs
-
Not at all. In fact, consultations are especially helpful when you know what you’d like to improve but aren’t sure which treatment is appropriate. We’ll start with your goals rather than a specific service.
-
No. A consultation is an opportunity to learn about your options and decide what feels right for you. There is no pressure to schedule treatment during your appointment.
-
You can meet with us and discuss your goals without committing to treatment. Certain treatments require current medical clearance before they can be performed, and we’ll let you know what is needed based on your treatment plan.
-
Same-day treatment may be possible depending on the service, scheduling availability, and whether all required medical clearance has been completed. Some treatments are better planned for a separate appointment.
-
We’ll tell you. Recommendations are based on your anatomy, health history, goals, and what can reasonably and safely be achieved. If another approach would be more appropriate, we’ll explain why.
-
You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of your options and recommended next steps. If you don’t schedule before leaving, Selah will follow up within 24–48 hours to answer questions and help you move forward whenever you’re ready.
-
Consultations are scheduled for 30 minutes, giving us enough time to talk through your goals, assess your concerns, answer questions, and review treatment options without feeling rushed.
-
Yes. A $25 consultation fee is collected when you book your appointment. Your consultation includes 30 minutes of dedicated time to discuss your goals, assess your concerns, and review treatment options.
If you choose to move forward, the full $25 will be applied toward treatment booked within 60 days of your consultation. The consultation fee is nonrefundable for no-shows.
Botox FAQs
-
If you’re looking to soften expression lines while still maintaining natural movement, this treatment may be a good fit. During your consultation, we’ll review your medical history, facial anatomy, and goals to make sure treatment is both safe and appropriate for you. Treatment is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding and may not be suitable for those with certain neuromuscular conditions.
-
Neuromodulators such as Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, Jeuveau®, and Daxxify® all work by temporarily reducing targeted muscle activity, but they differ in formulation, dosing, onset, and duration.
There isn’t one product that is best for everyone. The right choice depends on your treatment goals, anatomy, previous experience, and how your body responds. If more than one option is available at Selah, we’ll talk through the differences and choose the product that makes the most sense for you.
-
While injections are commonly used to soften expression lines, they can also be used strategically in other areas of the face and neck. Depending on your anatomy and goals, treatment may help soften a gummy smile, reduce chin dimpling, relax the masseter muscles, soften downward pull around the mouth, or refine the appearance of the jawline and neck.
Every treatment at Selah is individualized, with placement and dosing based on your facial anatomy, movement, and desired outcome.
-
The goal is not to change the way you look, but to soften expression lines and areas of tension that may leave you looking more tired or tense than you feel. At Selah, treatment is approached conservatively and tailored to your facial anatomy, natural movement, and individual goals, so you can still smile, laugh, and look like yourself.
Think refreshed, not frozen. The intention is for people to notice that you look rested and well, not that you’ve “had something done.”
-
These treatments require very little downtime, and most clients can return to their normal day right away. You may notice temporary redness, tenderness, small bumps, or occasional bruising at the injection sites, which typically improve quickly.
For the remainder of the day, avoid rubbing or applying significant pressure to the treated areas, and hold off on strenuous exercise, hot yoga, saunas, or other high-heat activities until the following day. You’ll receive clear aftercare instructions at your appointment so you know what to expect and how to care for the treated areas.
-
Nothing sudden happens if you decide to take a break. As the effects of treatment gradually wear off, muscle movement returns and expression lines may slowly become more noticeable again.
Your face will not suddenly age faster or look worse because you stopped treatment. You’ll simply return to your natural baseline and aging process over time. Treatments can be continued, spaced out, or paused depending on your goals and preferences.
Lip Enhancement FAQs
-
Lip filler is a medical procedure and, like any injectable treatment, carries risks. These can range from temporary swelling and bruising to rare but serious complications such as vascular occlusion. Treatment begins with an assessment of your anatomy and medical history, and safety guides every treatment decision at Selah.
-
That’s not the goal. At Selah, lip enhancement is approached conservatively, with careful attention to your natural anatomy, proportions, and facial features. The focus is on subtle shape, balance, and definition rather than creating a dramatic or one-size-fits-all look.
-
There isn’t a standard amount that works for everyone. The amount used depends on your natural lip anatomy, treatment history, and goals. We’ll discuss what is appropriate for you during your consultation and may recommend building results gradually rather than trying to achieve everything in one appointment.
-
Swelling, tenderness, firmness, and bruising are common during the first several days. Your lips may temporarily look larger or slightly uneven while swelling resolves. Although much of the swelling improves within the first week, it can take around two weeks for your lips to fully settle and for the final result to become more apparent.
Most clients can return to normal daily activities, but swelling and bruising can be noticeable for several days. It’s a good idea to schedule your treatment well ahead of an important event, photo session, or special occasion rather than immediately beforehand.
-
Longevity varies depending on the product used, your metabolism, the amount placed, and your individual anatomy. Hyaluronic acid lip filler commonly lasts a year or longer, although some clients may notice changes sooner.
-
You’ll likely feel some pressure, pinching, or tenderness during treatment, but comfort is a priority throughout the appointment. Our hyaluronic acid fillers also contain lidocaine, which helps make the treatment more comfortable as it progresses.
-
Hyaluronic acid filler can typically be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase when clinically appropriate. Dissolving may be recommended for aesthetic concerns or, more urgently, if a complication requires it.
-
Lip injections can sometimes trigger a cold-sore outbreak in people with a history of herpes simplex. Please let us know before your appointment, even if you haven’t had an outbreak recently, so we can determine whether additional precautions are appropriate.
Microneedling FAQs
-
Microneedling can help improve the appearance of uneven texture, fine lines, enlarged pores, acne scars, and overall skin quality. Your treatment plan will depend on your skin concerns and goals.
-
Microneedling creates tiny, controlled microchannels in the skin. This triggers the skin’s natural repair response and supports the production and remodeling of collagen and elastin over time.
-
A topical numbing cream is typically used before treatment to improve comfort. You may still feel pressure, vibration, or mild prickling, particularly in more sensitive areas.
-
Yes. Depending on your skin, treatment plan, and goals, a professional product will be used during microneedling to support hydration, glide, and treatment results. Additional topical enhancements may also be incorporated when appropriate.
Products are selected specifically for microneedling and tailored to your skin type, treatment goals, and individual needs.
-
Microneedling is typically most effective when performed as a series. Most clients begin with 3–4 treatments spaced about 4–6 weeks apart, depending on their skin, treatment depth, and goals. More significant concerns, such as acne scarring or deeper texture changes, may require additional sessions. After the initial series, periodic maintenance treatments can help support and preserve your results.
-
Your skin may begin to look brighter and more refreshed once the initial redness settles, but microneedling results continue to develop gradually as the skin renews itself. Improvements in texture and overall skin quality may become more noticeable over the following weeks.
-
Downtime is generally minimal, although redness, warmth, tightness, dryness, or mild swelling can occur for the first few days. Some clients also experience temporary flaking or a slightly rough texture as the skin recovers.
-
Microneedling may be appropriate for many healthy adults looking to improve skin texture and overall skin quality. It may not be recommended with certain active skin conditions, infections, impaired healing, or other medical considerations. We’ll review your history and skin before treatment to determine whether microneedling is appropriate for you.
Jaw Tension FAQs
-
Not every form of jaw or TMJ pain is caused by overactive muscles. Botulinum toxin may be considered for certain muscle-related symptoms, but it is not a first-line treatment for all temporomandibular disorders. An assessment is needed to determine whether it is appropriate for you.
-
Botulinum toxin temporarily reduces activity in targeted jaw muscles. For appropriately selected patients, reducing excessive muscle contraction may lessen tension associated with clenching or overuse.
-
Neuromodulators such as Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, Jeuveau®, and Daxxify® all work by temporarily reducing targeted muscle activity, but they differ in formulation, dosing, onset, and duration.
There isn’t one product that is best for everyone. The right choice depends on your treatment goals, anatomy, previous experience, and how your body responds. If more than one option is available at Selah, we’ll talk through the differences and choose the product that makes the most sense for you.
-
Reducing masseter activity can sometimes lead to a softer or narrower appearance of the lower face over time. Any aesthetic change depends on your anatomy and muscle size and should be considered secondary to the treatment goal.
-
You may notice a temporary change in muscle strength, particularly with tougher or chewy foods. Dosing is individualized to reduce excessive muscle activity while maintaining normal function.
-
Results vary by person, muscle strength, dose, and treatment history. If treatment is continued, timing will be determined based on your response rather than an automatic schedule.
Excessive Sweating FAQs
-
Botulinum toxin can be used to reduce excessive sweating in areas including the underarms, palms of the hands, and soles of the feet. Treatment recommendations depend on your symptoms, medical history, and the area involved.
-
Botulinum toxin temporarily blocks the nerve signals that activate sweat glands in the treated area, reducing excessive sweat production.
-
The starch-iodine, or Minor, test helps identify exactly where excessive sweating is occurring. Iodine and starch are applied to the skin, and areas of active sweating turn dark, allowing us to map the area before treatment.
-
The palms and soles tend to be more sensitive than the underarms, so additional comfort measures may be used before treatment. We’ll discuss the numbing approach with you beforehand so you know what to expect.
-
Most clients begin noticing reduced sweating within about 7–10 days, although response time varies.
-
Results vary by individual and treatment area. The American Academy of Dermatology notes that effects may last roughly 3–10 months for the underarms or hands and 3–6 months for the feet.
Filler Refinement FAQs
-
Hyaluronidase works on hyaluronic acid fillers. It does not precisely dissolve other filler materials such as calcium hydroxylapatite or poly-L-lactic acid.
-
Sometimes, but dissolving is not perfectly precise. Hyaluronidase can spread through the tissue and affect filler near the treatment area, which is why we take a conservative approach.
-
Possibly. The amount, location, age, and type of filler all influence how it responds. Some areas may require staged treatment.
-
Hyaluronidase begins breaking down hyaluronic acid filler immediately after injection, and you may notice a change within the first several hours. The enzyme continues acting over roughly the next 24–48 hours, although swelling from the treatment itself can temporarily make it difficult to tell how much filler has actually dissolved.
Not all fillers dissolve at the same rate. More highly cross-linked or resistant HA formulations may take longer to break down and may require additional hyaluronidase or more than one treatment session. The amount and type of filler, how long it has been present, and where it was placed can all influence the response.
While early changes can happen quickly, we generally allow the area to fully settle before judging the final result. By about 10–14 days, swelling has usually resolved enough to more accurately determine whether additional dissolving is needed.
-
Often, yes. Once the area has healed and stabilized, we can reassess whether future filler is appropriate and discuss timing.
-
No. Bruising, swelling, discomfort, and allergic reactions can occur. Your provider will review the potential benefits and risks before treatment.
IV Therapy FAQs
-
The contents of an infusion depend on your medical evaluation and treatment plan. Fluids and any added ingredients are selected based on clinical appropriateness rather than an à-la-carte approach.
-
Your goals absolutely matter, but the final formulation must also be medically appropriate. Your provider will recommend options based on your history, needs, and the available treatment protocols.
-
Timing varies based on the type and volume of the infusion. You’ll be given an expected treatment time when your infusion is selected.
-
There is no universal schedule. Frequency depends on why you are receiving the infusion, your health history, and the treatment being used.
-
That depends on the reason for treatment and the formulation used. People receiving fluids for dehydration may notice improvement relatively quickly, but IV therapy should not be marketed as an instant fix for general wellness concerns.
-
IV therapy is generally well tolerated when appropriately prescribed and administered, but it is still a medical procedure. Risks include bruising, infiltration, vein irritation, infection, reactions to ingredients, and, less commonly, fluid overload or other complications.
